Mastering and Mixing Services
…if you’ve never submitted a song or songs for mastering, or multi-tracks for mixing, please…
- Read the best practices for preparing your files.
- Use either form on this page to get in touch and set something up. Knowing a bit about you, your project and your plans and aspirations can help me bring out the best in the music you bring.
- If you’re comfortable doing so, send your files by WeTransfer, Dropbox or the file sharing service of your choice to the address in the response email and hear what I can do—no obligation.
Best practices:
- Files should be at least 44.1 kHz and 24 bit
- WAV or AIFF are the standard file types.
- For mixing: please label your tracks (aka “stems”) clearly, and export (“render,” “bounce them out”) at equal length—the length of the entire song.
- For mastering: stereo mix files should provide about 6dB of headroom (i.e., peak at -6dB). Don’t worry if you’re not sure.
- Please leave us some room at the beginning and end of songs
- Please name your files clearly and consistently. An example format:
artist-0x-songname-[mix|rough|etc]
- We strongly encourage you to include references and/or first-masters (sometimes called rough masters). A reference isn’t a song I try to make yours sound like. It’s a production standard I’ll target. When your music appears on the same playlist as your references it will fit right in.

Get in touch
Use the form above or below. This is the first step to arranging a GuitarFaces mix or master. With this information I’ll know what to discuss when I contact you. You can send the file or files in question as soon as you receive the email reply, or wait until after we talk. I like to meet local musicians in person, especially at a show, or by Zoom.
Payment
Mastering is CAD $99 for a single. Inquire for pricing of albums and EPs intended for release on CD or vinyl.
There’s no obligation and no money changes hands until you’ve heard what I can do and told me to go ahead and do it. Full payment is expected on acceptance of a final master or mix, and precedes delivery. First time customers and large projects may be asked to provide a small, fully refundable deposit.
Do we ever reject a project?
In some cases a mix or a production just needs a little more work before it’s ready for the next phase. What can’t be fixed in the mix will generally benefit from a do-over! The same goes for a master, if it requires more than a few broad brush strokes. I’ll be perfectly honest about what I can and can not accomplish with the track or tracks you send me. Consider GuitarFaces part of your team, working with you to achieve mutually beneficial levels of excellence.
